Ratos AB: New CEO for BTJ InfoData Group

Fredrik Åkerman will take over as President and CEO of Ratos's associated company BTJ InfoData on 1 September 2004. Fredrik Åkerman is currently with Bonnier Dagstidningar.
"I see major potential for BTJ InfoData's operations which I hope to be able to realise," says Fredrik Åkerman, commenting on his new position.


Fredrik Åkerman is an economics graduate who has held leading positions within the Bonnier Group since 1998, including CEO of Dagens Nyheter. Prior to that, he worked for 13 years in a number of functions within Statoil.


"BTJ InfoData is in many ways making a new start," says Bo Jungner, Senior Investment Manager at Ratos. "His background has given Fredrik Åkerman the necessary experience both to develop the existing business and to achieve further attractive opportunities for BTJ InfoData's operating areas."


BTJ InfoData today comprises two operating areas within information management, BTJ Group and InfoData. BTJ Group's operations include Bibliotekstjänst which is the dominant supplier of library services, primarily to public and school libraries in Sweden. The Group also includes the book wholesaler Seelig which offers information, wholesale and logistic services relating to books to the book trade and publishers, and PrioInfo which supplies database and subscription services to corporate clients. InfoData, which was acquired in 2004, is a leading provider of database and direct marketing services in Sweden.


BTJ InfoData's total sales in 2003 amounted to almost SEK 1.8 billion. The company has nearly 1,000 employees. Owners are Ratos (49%), Litorina Kapital (36%), the Swedish Library Association (11%) and management (4%).
