Wi-Fi Streaming Media Player & Mobile Sound System for iPad Deliver New Options for Entertainment

Las Vegas, NV – Jan. 8, 2012 – With more and more consumers relying on the Internet as a source for favorite video content, RCA is showcasing two streaming media products this week that offer content from leading streaming entertainment providers, including Netflix, Pandora, Vudu, and others. The new RCA Wi-Fi Home Theater Sound Bar (model RTS739WS) combines multichannel audio capability and wireless surround sound speakers with built-in electronics for wireless delivery of content from Internet sources.

“With the launch of the RCA Wi-Fi Streaming Media Player (model DSB779W) last fall, we’ve brought Internet content to the living rooms of thousands of viewers. Our affordable solutions feature access to the most popular streaming media content, and now we’re building the functionality into a Sound Bar that will ship to our retail customers later this spring. The industry’s first Streaming Sound Bar eliminates a number of the wires cluttering many home entertainment systems, since the capability for Internet streaming is built right into the device.   The wireless surround sound speakers and subwoofer make the setup very simple, adding to the appeal of this all-in-one solution,” said Stephen Jorge, VP of sales for RCA Audio/Video licensee Alco Electronics.

The 37” Streaming Sound Bar can be paired with any TV, but is ideal for big-screen displays and includes 1080p HDMI output for a single cable connection to the TV. An optical audio input can add digital audio from the TV or other source, such as a cable set top box or Blu-ray disc player. The suggested retail price of the RCA Streaming Sound Bar is $ 199.99.

iPad Mobility, Flexible Sound Systems

Among the latest iPad audio system products shown at the International CES is the RCA Mobile Sound System for iPad, which delivers stereo sound in a compact speaker system that can easily be mounted on a car headrest for backseat entertainment.

The Mobile Sound System (model RPD663) comes with wireless headphones, which make it a perfect option for in-car passenger entertainment. It’s also an ideal complement to the kitchen, enhancing iPad audio. The RCA RPD663 is available now at a suggested retail price of $ 99.99.

Also coming from RCA are three additional iPad/iPod/iPhone sound systems:

  • The RPD1687A “dual dock” can play and recharge both the iPad and the iPod or iPhone and includes a built-in digital FM tuner and convenient alarm. Suggested retail price $ 99.99.
  • The RPD160BT is an audio system that can charge an iPad, iPod, or iPhone and plays with stereo fidelity through a wireless Bluetooth connection. Suggested retail price $ 99.99.
  • The new RPD173A is a Sound System for iPod, iPhone, and iPad that includes a built-in digital FM radio tuner and alarm clock. Suggested retail price $ 69.99.

Portable Video

Two new portable video players are planned from RCA. The DRC96121 is a portable DVD player featuring a 12-inch digital LCD screen and a 5-hour rechargeable battery, as well as home and car power adapters. Suggested retail price is $ 149.99.

The 10-inch portable Blu-ray player BRC3109 includes HDMI output and a four-hour battery for home or portable use and includes a travel case and full-size remote control. Suggested retail price is $ 249.99.
