New Low Cost On-line IT Help for Home & Small Business
A new phone and web-based PC and network support service that connects business and home IT users directly with an experienced engineer for remote diagnosis and repair is launched by Hazlemere-based company Ingenuity IT.
The service is ‘pay per minute’ with no subscription or minimum charges. Typically, a PC boot-up problem can be fixed during a 12-minute call at Just £16.80 including VAT, the company says.
This service is now ‘live’ to individuals, families and small businesses in the Buckinghamshire area via www.myingenuity.co.uk, with a UK-wide rollout planned for later this year (2012).
Free for First 50 Local Users
Ahead of a full national launch, 50 people can benefit from the local launch pilot with 30 minutes of free support credited to their user account. Call 0800 849 4106 or email info@myingenuity.co.uk.
MyIngenuity provides easy and direct access to friendly, UK-based IT and gadget-savvy engineers, the company says. Personalised help, advice and training are all readily available, as are remote fixes for PCs, laptops, tablets, smart phones, networks and other devices. Problems related to email, internet access and software such as Microsoft Office can also be fixed remotely.
Customers can log onto the MyIngenuity website and see which engineers are on-line and available at any given time. They can select an engineer and communicate via email, internet chat or an 0800 number, which means calls are free from a UK landline. The service operates from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and often later.
A MyIngenuity engineer can carry out most fixes to PCs, laptops and tablets remotely over an internet connection. While the repair is in progress, the user stays firmly in control and can see on-screen, and learn from the work that the engineer is doing. Alternatively, the engineer can talk the customer through the repair. Either way, there is no engineer call-out fee to pay and no minimum charge – at a pro rata rate of £84.00 per hour including VAT. MyIngenuity customers benefit from fair, per-minute charging the company says, with payment made by the customer’s choice of either a Top-Up Credit Account or Pay As You Go.
Hazlemere resident Matt Simpson, who formed Ingenuity IT in 2003 and came up with the MyIngenuity concept said: “MyIngenuity is unique in its scope of support and its approach. The whole idea is that users have direct lines of communication to their choice of a friendly, highly qualified UK-based engineer. The aim is for our engineers to get to know the customer and their mix of computers and devices, and to form a strong long-term relationship.”
Another local man, Fahad Javid from High Wycombe, has been recruited as a lead engineer for the initial local launch of MyIngenuity. He is a Microsoft-qualified IT professional who has worked in IT for five years, notably on projects for Google, Samsung and the NHS.
Commenting on his new role, Fahad Javid said: “I’ve always believed that to support technology users you have to relate to them as individuals. When I heard about MyIngenuity I just had to get involved.”
He added: “This is a service that so many people can benefit from. For our potential users, my message is: ‘We’re here to help; we keep the technical jargon to a minimum – and there are no lengthy phone menus and no sales patter, just help when it’s needed.’”
