The Hospitals Contribution Fund (HCF) - an Australian private health insurance company - has previously automated the handling of membership applications with ReadSoft software. They will now expand their use of Document Automation solutions by automating the processing of medical claims and invoices. "We're planning for expansion over the coming years and have realized that imaging and automating our document handling gives us the control needed for further growth", comments Patrick Shearman, General Manager of Information Management at HCF. The value of the latest agreement is more than EUR 150,000, and the total value of the HCF solutions is now EUR 300,000.

The agreements with HCF follow a thorough evaluation and legal process that was conducted during 2005 and 2006, when HCF compared the solution from ReadSoft to others on the market. Since July 2006 ReadSoft DOCUMENTS for Forms has been an integral part of the membership application services that HCF provides to its 975,000 members.

"Our experience with ReadSoft DOCUMENTS for Forms trigged us to look into other areas where we handle large amounts of documents," Shearman says. "Since we handle large volumes of medical claims per year (which are growing annually) it seemed a natural step to scale up our ReadSoft infrastructure to handle those as well. This is why we now have decided to invest in ReadSoft DOCUMENTS for Invoices."

HCF provides private health insurance cover for hospital treatment, as well as a wide range of ancillary health and related services including dental, eye care and ambulance transport services. The HCF Group consists of HCF and HCF Life. As a whole, the Group provides health cover for 975,000 Australians with 356,300 members also having HCF Life insurance policies. The turnover for 2006 was AUD 880.5 million with some 871 employees.
