Census of population in Ghana for ReadSoft Large deal makes way for new lucrative segment The world-leading IT company ReadSoft has pulled off an order of GBP 440,000 to deliver software for automatic data capture, which will take care of African Ghana's population census. During a period of only 45 days, eleven million collected census forms will be registered and interpreted by direction of the Ghana government. The deal was closed with Ghana's Department of Finance by ReadSoft distributor Gap International (UK), after a long period of evaluation and tests. It is worth GBP 440,000, including hardware and service. The software solution, which will automatically capture the information on the census forms, will save substantial time and money compared to earlier years' manual registration. ReadSoft has already cooperated with the Statistical Bureaus in Estonia, Ukraine, Sweden and Aruba when it comes to census projects. The market is estimated as very large and the rationalization needs far-reaching. In many countries the census of population has been a very expensive and lengthy procedure, but with automatic data capture the forms can be captured and statistics can be made without great effort. "Census projects is a vertical market segment which is growing, and it might become very important for ReadSoft. Besides the established timetable for censuses of population in the developed countries, the UN and other international organizations are financing projects in the developing countries as part of their 'development'.
