Lithuanian Tax Authorities initiates Automatic Data Capture project. First order for ReadSoft in Lithuania ReadSofts software for automatic data capture, Eyes & Hands FORMS, has been purchased by the Lithuanian Tax Authority. ReadSoft's Lithuanian partner CompServis will install software to read and interpret approximately 40,000 tax -and VAT forms every month. The initial order value is 100,000 USD, which is expected to grow with additional installations. The Lithuanian Tax Authority will implement ReadSoft's software for automatic data capture at a number of offices in the country. To begin with, three tax offices in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda will use the system to read, interpret and verify income tax return forms. Earlier, the staff at the different offices keyed in the information manually. ReadSoft's system will now facilitate the process. "It is always strategically important to enter new markets and it is also encouraging to take part in the modernization of the information- flow at different governmental institutions. The advantages of using automatic data capture have already been recognized by several Tax authorities in other countries. We now look forward to increase the number of installations in Lithuania," comments Jan Andersson, MD of ReadSoft. Mr. R Puodziunas, with the Lithuanian State Tax Inspectorate under the Ministry of Finance explains why they chose ReadSoft's system: "In the open market we choose the offer with the best conditions and the best prices. We anticipate to lower our costs, speed up the process and improve the data quality retrieved from the income tax return forms. Furthermore this will decrease the workload for our staff.
