Prestigious British bank engages ReadSoft ReadSoft has received a general agreement from the British Bank Abbey National, with an estimated value of over half a million English pounds. The deal means that ReadSoft will install its software for automatic data capture on Abbeys' banks around the country, to be used on loan applications, finance agreements, cheques et c. The first deal was made already in 1997, but recently a general agreement has been signed, which includes the entire Abbey National Group in the UK. The agreement is valued to a total of half a million pounds and the bank also has ReadSoft's new product for automatic invoice processing under investigation. ReadSoft has noticed a clear trend where banks are among those which take in new technology very quickly as a step in adapting to the new economy. More and more banks are on ReadSoft's customer list and in many cases the initial project leads to general agreements, where the technology is used on a bigger scale. Abbey National is a good example of this. Robert High, development infrastructure manager at Abbey, comments: "After our initial decision to proceed with ReadSoft for our imaging project, we always believed the system could handle our multi-facetted business procedures. The system is performing well and our center managers now can see the direct benefits from scanning and automatic indexing with the software. We now are looking forward to the variety of projects coming to fruition across the group."
