ReadSoft counts Argentinean population Eyes & Hands FORMS automates second largest census in Latin America ReadSoft's software for automatic data capture will take an active part in the coming population census in Argentina. Eyes & Hands FORMS will capture, interpret and verify information from millions of questionnaires. The order was won by ReadSoft's subsidiary in Chile in collaboration with the integrator company Boldt and Casa Moneda Argentina. The initial order value is 200,000 USD. Ten years have passed since Argentina performed its latest population census. Starting in October the Argentinean Institute of Statistics will gather information about the approximately 37 million inhabitants. Using 430,000 teachers the massive gathering of information will take place in a very short time span, only three days. After the multi-page questionnaires have been filled out they will be transported to the Institute of Statistics where ReadSoft's Eyes & Hands FORMS will capture, interpret and verify the relevant information about the population. "Large census projects are prepared in several Latin American countries, e.g. Chile, Peru and Colombia. Our Latin American operations are well positioned for these projects and we strive to be the preferred choice in several", says Jan Andersson, MD at ReadSoft. This year's census is the 9th national census of population carried out in Argentina. After the census is completed the Argentinean Institute of Statistics will continue to benefit from Eyes & Hands FORMS for smaller statistics and census projects. In many countries the population census has been a very expensive and lengthy procedure, but with automatic data capture the statistics can be generated much easier.
