PRESS RELEASE More than £1,300 has been raised for charity by attendees at the first TRA sponsored tyre industry dinner. The money, which was generated through a raffle and blind auction, will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support, helping to improve the lives of those affected by cancer. “We are delighted to have raised funds supporting such a worthy cause as Macmillan,” comments Peter Taylor OBE, secretary general of the Tyre Recovery Association. “In such a difficult economic climate, I would like to thank everyone who attended the evening for their generosity and support.” More than 100 people from the tyre industry attended the dinner which followed the association’s annual forum day. As well as dancing to the sounds of the swinging sixties, guests were entertained with live performances from tribute acts Lulu, Dusty and The Dreamettes. Compere for the evening was Heart FM DJ Dave Clark. The evening also included an awards presentation which saw the Volkswagen Group awarded with the TyreSafe award; Jim Rickard, managing director of Michelin presented with the TRA lifetime achievement award; and Kwik-Fit winning the Michelin Innovation Award.
