TyreSafe will be launching its first ever industry roadshow on Wednesday 26th January in Solihull. The free event will be hosted by one of Britain’s best-known motoring authorities, Quentin Willson, who will deliver an insight into the challenges the UK continues to face from defective and illegal tyres. As well as outlining its ongoing plans to tackle the key issues, TyreSafe will highlight how companies from a wide range of sectors can get involved, and the vital role that they play in helping to save lives. “TyreSafe has achieved an incredible amount in its short history but we need the support of other companies and industry sectors to reduce accident rates even further,” explains Stuart Jackson, chairman, TyreSafe. “This event will gives companies an opportunity to understand what we do and how, with their help, we can save even more lives from tyre related accidents.” TyreSafe is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers associated with defective and illegal tyres. Since its inception in 2006, its activities have contributed towards a 30% reduction in the number of drivers killed or seriously injured each year in the UK in a tyre related accident. In 2009, TyreSafe was awarded a prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Award in recognition of its achievements in raising awareness about tyre safety. Its members include most tyre manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, as well as 12 vehicle manufacturer brands. As well as hearing from Quentin Willson and TyreSafe, attendees at the roadshow will learn about the devastating consequences of neglected tyres from forensic vehicle examiner for Cumbria Police, Shaun McKeown, one of TyreSafe’s recent ‘wheel heroes’. Tim Peacock, group product manager for the Volkswagen Group (UK) will also outline how the VW group has benefitted from its membership of TyreSafe. Professionals from all related industry sectors are invited to attend the event but TyreSafe is particularly interested in those from insurance companies, fleets, car rental, breakdown services, petrol retailers and other vehicle manufacturers. The event will commence at 10.30am and will be followed by a buffet lunch and networking opportunity. To book your free place at the TyreSafe roadshow, contact Christine Joyce on 01787 226995.
