Redsense Medical announces new project with European Nurses Association
Redsense Medical announces a new initiative aimed at facilitating the reporting process for Venous Needle Dislodgement (VND). The project, undertaken by the EDTNA/ERCA and supported by an Educational Grant by Redsense, includes the creation of an online checklist and a reporting tool.
The focus the coming months lies on research and a survey that will be sent out to healthcare professionals all over the world. In Q1 2020 the results will be consolidated and in Q2 2020 the design and development of the deliverables will start. The project will be finished and presented at the 49th EDTNA/ERCA Conference in September 2020 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Redsense Medical attended the 48th EDTNA/ERCA Conference, September 14th– 17th, 2019 in Prague, Czech Republic to present this new initiative at the Plenary Session. It was introduced to healthcare professionals from approximately 50 countries by the Redsense’s Director of Commercial Operations Sebastien Bollue together with EDTNA/ERCA Executive Board Member Tai Mooi Ho Wong.
“Venous needle dislodgement is a serious issue and often underreported. With this project we want to help the nurses report incidents in a simple manner and promote a blame-free working environment. The data from reported incidents will help establish Redsense as a standard of care,”says Patrik Byhmer, CEO of Redsense Medical AB.
Patrik Byhmer continues, “Education is important to raise awareness about the risk of VND and thereby achieve safer care for hemodialysis patients. We have been working with the EDTNA/ERCA organisation for years now, creating educational materials and information about VND.

About Redsense Medical
Redsense Medical is a corporate group with operations mainly in Europe and the United States. The company has developed the Redsense System, an innovation used for monitoring and alarm in the case of blood leakage in connection with a hemodialysis treatment. Redsense Medical solves one of the most serious remaining safety problems within hemodialysis – to quickly detect Venous Needle Dislodgement and catheter leakage to minimize blood leakage. The system consists of a patented fiber optic sensor, designed for either venous needle or central venous catheter, which is connected to an alarm unit. From the very start, the development of the company's technology has been based on the demands and safety requirements of healthcare providers in the dialysis sector.
