Inauguration of the world’s first electric highway
The grand opening of the world’s first electric highway will take place June 22th, on E16 between Kungsgården and Sandviken in Gästrikland, Sweden.
The interest during the building phase that started in November 2015 has been large. It is the first electric highway on public road in the world and the number of registered visitors on the opening day are reaching 300 people and we would especially like to invite media to this opening since we believe it will be quite an event. Join the media bus to the electric highway
Because the E16 is a European highway, with high demands on security due to high speed and high transport load, the inauguration will take place at Sandbacka Science park. On Sandbacka there will be an exhibition, seminars and a panel discussion between high-level decision makers in Sweden. Given the limited access to the demonstrator, it is on the E16, we will broadcast live from the demonstration site during the opening. It can be viewed at Sandbacka Science park and on regiongavleborg.se/elvag.
Enabling the possibility for media to be “on-site” during the opening a bus will take you to the parking space, adjacent to the electric highway, and back to Sandbacka science park. During the opening safety is our top priority and the parking space is therefore closed to all other traffic. Another possibility to watch the events is on the bridge, located above the electric highway. The bus will take you there as well. The bridge is also closed to traffic during the opening ceremony. We will provide safety vests for you and your host on the bus is Kristin Nylander, press service, Region Gavleborg.
