Oslo’s biggest urban development project has chosen Rejlers as its electrical engineering design contractor
Rejlers has been chosen as the electrical engineering design contractor for Økern Portal, Oslo’s largest smart urban development project. The contract covers office buildings and market areas covering a total area of 68,300 m² in a completely new district of the city with a distinct and sustainable profile.
In the Økern and Hovinbyen district of Oslo, one of the biggest urban development projects in the capital is taking shape. The new district will provide homes for 100,000 people and become the workplace for tens of thousands. In the heart of the district will be the 81,000-square metre “Økern Portal”, a sustainable community linking business and environment in a smart commercial building. Rejlers has been tasked with electrical engineering design for office buildings and market areas totalling 68,300 m².
– The Økern Portal will be more than just an office building. Employees will be served by a greater range of services than can be found on ordinary commercial premises, as the building will be an active contributor to both the business sector and the local community. In order for this to happen, the ground floor must be both attractive and accessible to all. It will create greater diversity than we see in most other places, says Richard Groven of Oslo Pensjonsforsikring, which is behind the building.
