Rejlers Norway receives new infrastructure assignment
Following the acquisition of the Norwegian technology consultancy firm KANtech, which specialises in railway technology, Rejlers has now received its first assignment under the existing framework agreement with Bane NOR. Rejlers will be responsible for the development of system documents that deal with the use of autotransformator systems (AT systems) to increase the electricity supply on the Drammen-Sandvika railway line in Norway.
Bane NOR intends to upgrade the overhead contact line network on the route between Drammen and Sandvika by replacing the current conventional system with an autotransformator system. Electricity supply capacity is a long-term challenge along this route. With an upgraded system, each train can be supplied with more power, which means that the route can accommodate more and longer trains.
An investigation into the need for an upgrade has been carried out. Rejler has now been tasked with leading the development of the system documents that will constitute the basis for Bane NOR’s decision-making in terms of construction documents and commissioning. KANtech has extensive experience with similar assignments, and project experts from Rejlers Sweden will also participate in this project.
“Rejlers’ Swedish branch has a large professional team with solid expertise in railways. I think the reinforcement we have now received in Norway with our new colleagues from KANtech, in combination with our specialist team in Sweden, was a deciding factor in the decision to entrust us to lead this assignment,” says Petter Arnesen, CEO of Rejlers Norway.
The system documents are due to be delivered in August of this year. If Bane NOR chooses to take the project further, construction documents will be begun sometime in 2021.
