Rejlers participates when Varberg Energi invests in energy storage
Rejlers experts contributes with technical expertise and project management when Varberg Energi plans to install a larger battery storage facility to smooth out peaks and store the electricity surplus. Varberg Energi offers its customers a completely renewable energy production with focus on electricity from wind, water and solar.
Varberg Energi has long been a pioneer in renewable alternatives, in the early 1990s the company opened Sweden's first wind farm and in 2016 they established one of Sweden's largest solar farms – "Solsidan". As the share of renewable energy grows, increasing demands are placed on the energy system with different types of storage and flexibility services, which plays an important role in the integration of renewable energy into the electricity grid.
To even out daily variations, Varberg Energi now plans to install a pilot in 2021, where the main purpose is battery storage for flexibility services, in order to be able to connect in the next step to a larger battery storage of 10 MW/20 MWh towards 12 kV distribution networks. Rejlers brings expertise in the development of the technical specification in the pilot and will also support in the procurement as well as in the project management of the larger battery storage facility, which is expected to be installed and completed in 2023.
