Rejlers responsible for the system architecture in strategically important port expansion in Luleå

To meet the industrial development and sustainable transformation in northern Sweden, the Port of Luleå is now building the New Port of Luleå. Rejlers is the project manager responsible for the system architecture that will enable a high degree of automation for the port facility.

The new port that is being built in Luleå will have a completely new port area of 750,000 square meters and is a strategically important project to be able to carry out all planned industrial investments in northern Sweden.

Rejlers is the project manager responsible for establishing a modern system architecture that creates the conditions for a high degree of automation. The assignment covers everything in systems, from the early phases of the project to a future functioning, modern port facility. The system architecture will connect functions such as business systems, systems for logistics and terminal management, as well as vessel calls for the various actors in the port area.

The new port will also provide space for a logistics park with more storage space and a railway for connection to business ventures and industrial establishments via Södra Malmbanan (the Southern Ore Railway). Thanks to the deeper fairway and deep-water port, larger and fully loaded vessels can be handled, which leads to more efficient maritime transport with significantly less environmental impact.

"When the new port is completed, the freight capacity will be significantly increased. Thanks to Rejlers' extensive expertise in digital industrial and logistics processes, we can meet the tough demands placed on the system architecture in the new port," says Erik Söderström, Business Area Manager at Rejlers' Industry Division.

"The assignment is being carried out in close collaboration with Nordkonsult i Luleå AB, where we are pleased to have the opportunity to develop the local collaboration further as good collaborations are crucial in the expansive region we are in," concludes Erik Söderström.
