Second round of public exhibitions announced for REnescience Northwich

Local people are again being invited to comment on REnescience Northwich, DONG Energy’s proposed bioresource development at Lostock Works.

Following the previous series of public exhibitions in July, a second round will be held in September to show how the project has developed in response to comments already received.

Following design work undertaken in July and August, updated site plans will be presented together with an indication of how the development would look from Manchester Road. The project team will be on hand to give further information about traffic, air quality and noise based on the environmental studies that have been undertaken and to answer any other questions.

The exhibitions will be held on:

Thursday 10 September, 2pm to 7.30pm
Rudheath Sports & Social Club, 235 Middlewich Road, CW9 7DN

Friday 11 September, 2pm to 7.30pm
Lostock Gralam Community Centre, Stubbs Lane, CW9 7PU

Saturday 12 September, 10am to 4pm
Northwich Memorial Court, Chester Way, Northwich, CW9 5QJ

Forms will be available at the exhibitions so that residents can give feedback on the proposals. People can also comment by emailing northwich@dongenergy.co.uk or writing to PO Box 357, Saltash, PL12 9AQ. The closing date for comments is Saturday 26 September 2015.

The proposed plant will treat waste using DONG Energy’s patented ‘REnescience’ technology, which is significantly better at capturing organic materials and achieving higher recycling rates than many conventional technologies.

The facility does not involve waste incineration: it will use the enzymatic REnescience technology to recover resources from waste and generate renewable electricity through treatment with enzymes, mechanical sorting and anaerobic digestion. In addition to the recyclable materials, the facility will produce biogas and generate approximately 5MW of renewable electricity.
