According to the report ‘Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS): Market Shares, Strategy, and Forecasts, Worldwide, 2012 to 2018’ the global unmanned aircraft systems market is anticipated to reach $51 billion by 2018

Growth will occur due to drones becoming lighter and less expensive, performing aerial war fighter tasks remotely.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are remotely piloted or self-piloted aircraft that can carry cameras, sensors, communications equipment or other payloads. UAVs are smaller than manned aircraft. They are cost-effectively stored and transported. UAVs make significant contributions to the fighting capability of operational war forces.

According to the 910 page report, growth in unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAV) has coincided with an increase in endurance limit and an increase in mission capabilities of UAVs. In general in the military there has been an increase in awareness and mission capabilities of UAVs creating an equation for growth. UAVs can perform dangerous missions without risking human life. View the report
