Resco expanding rapidly again, this time in Hamburg Resco's international expansion is advancing briskly. Started in early 2000, operations in Germany have shown strong growth from the outset. Twenty people have been recruited for the office in Hamburg and the consultant staff will number 30-40 by October. Resco's Hamburg office has developed rapidly in the short time the company has been in operation in that city. The recruiting campaign was successful and the company expects 30 to 40 new consultants to begin working in the office by autumn. A team is already hard at work laying the foundation. "It isn't difficult to grow by means of scattering shares like seeds in the wind," remarks Torstein Johansen, Managing Director of Resco AB. "We are proud that we are entering new markets on the strength of our business model and not by acquiring German companies, thus diluting our share capital and emptying our coffers. Some 30 people have already joined us because we have a strong vision. That is highly meaningful." "Germany is a key market," says Kjell Jacobsson, Chairman of Resco and Managing Director of Resco Germany. He continues: "The choice of Hamburg as our first location in Germany is logical, since it is considered the 'Digital City' in Germany and the centre of the New Economy." Resco's German management team includes several highly experienced individuals, who will begin working at the company this autumn. "We have chosen to recruit all staff locally," comments Kjell Jacobsson. "That made it possible for us to once again establish ourselves rapidly on a new market. We expect to have a staff of 100 in Germany by 2001." This approach served Resco well in Göteborg and Västerås in Sweden. The same expansion model has now proven successful internationally as well. Local recruiting provides immediate access to a broad network and knowledge concerning local customers. This puts the company in a strong position immediately when combined with Resco's unique competence mix and close co- operation with SAP. Several of Resco's international customers, including Checkpoint Meto and Wella, have operations in Germany. The range of competency at Resco in Germany will mirror that of Resco in Sweden and Finland. The new Resco consultants possess the knowledge and expertise necessary to create and develop strategic Internet solutions for all components of the customer's business process.
