Restorz LLC Designated as “Certified Firm” as Industry Leaders in Preventing Lead Contamination in Schools and Older Homes
Restorz LLC, headquartered in Westlake, Ohio, is pleased to announce their designation as a “Certified Firm” under the EPA’s new Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) program. The certification applies to companies conducting renovation and maintenance activities in child care facilities, homes built prior to 1978, elementary schools, and some common areas of public and commercial buildings such as restrooms and cafeterias. The guidelines, effective April 22, 2010, require renovators to follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.
“Care must be taken to ensure the safety of young children” said company president Don Nigro. “We must make certain that lead-safe practices are followed and clean-up procedures are in accordance with regulations.”
As a “first response” company specializing in water damage mitigation, Restorz frequently encounters conditions requiring the removal of building materials in order to thoroughly dry a structure. Although designated an emergency situation and exempt from EPA guidelines, cleaning verification and record-keeping must comply with federally mandated regulations. Firms must be certified to perform these procedures.
In accordance with these lead-safe practices, Restorz recently purchased an X-Ray fluorescent (XRF) analyzer to be used for lead testing. XRF technology is considered to be the most precise method of determining the presence of lead and offers immediate verification.
