Coronation Street star joined by some of retail's biggest names at fundraiser

The great and good of retail were on hand last night (20 September) in Manchester for Retail Trust’s Great Northern Party, with over £45,000 raised to help support the charity, which looks after all three million people in the retail industry.

Coronation Street star Antony Cotton, hosted proceedings at The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club. The event’s drinks reception, sponsored by N Brown Group, provided the perfect networking opportunity, with retailers including Harvey Nichols, Matalan, House of Fraser, Debenhams, Next, BrightHouse and Timpsons in attendance.

The much-anticipated silent auction included prizes such as a fantastic trip to the Glenlivet Distillery and four executive tickets to Manchester United’s upcoming match with Norwich City at Old Trafford.

Guests also had the opportunity to participate in a unique ‘Lucky Pants Draw’, with pants donated by Simply Be and the chance to win a Kindle and a year’s online subscription to The Times and Sunday Times.

Entertainment on the night was provided by top band Boogie Express, and Antony Cotton’s quiz, which naturally included a round on the soaps, saw the winning table receive a case of champagne, courtesy of Harvey Nichols.

Nigel J L Rothband, Chief Executive Officer at Retail Trust said:

“The importance of Retail Trust and its services has never been greater. The fantastic amount raised this evening will go directly towards supporting our Helpline, hardship grants, course funding and, of course, our five retirement estates, including Salford and Liverpool. We really appreciate the continued support of all the retailers present this evening.”
