The Edinburgh-based Institute for System Level Integration will play host to an event in partnership with NI LabVIEW.

Scottish technology transfer institute iSLI is to host a free practical seminar designed to help engineers exploit NI LabVIEW graphical programming techniques.

Conducted by the The Institute for System Level Integration in partnership with NI LabVIEW, the free three-hour seminar on April 5 2011 will show attendees how to design and build powerful measurement and control applications using NI LabVIEW graphical programming. Those attending the will be able to test-drive professional PC-based data acquisition systems and learn how to create modular, flexible and scalable systems with short development times at a low cost. NI and signal conditioning products ensure highly accurate measurements, and delegates will be shown how LabVIEW can help them easily acquire, analyse and present their data.

Attendees can also try LabVIEW and NI data acquisition products on their own through a range of guided exercises. Making it possible to discover the LabVIEW graphical programming environment, taking measurements in minutes using the latest USB data acquisition devices, learning how to design LabVIEW control applications and find out about the new features in LabVIEW 2010.

Delivered by qualified NI engineers the event will centre on technical presentations and demonstrations of the latest advances in LabVIEW and NI data acquisition (DAQ) technology, while participants will also have the opportunity to network with colleagues, peers and system integrators.

During this free, three-hour hands-on seminar at the iSLI co-hosted event, participants will also learn how to do the following:

· Use NI CompactDAQ to take temperature measurements, control analogue output and drive digital I/O lines
· Choose the best LabVIEW structures for adding decision-making into your applications
· Design an effective user interface
· Build a control application with analogue ou

This seminar is designed for engineers, scientists and technicians who build test, measurement, analysis, process monitoring and control, or research applications. Whether new to LabVIEW or having used the software in the past, participants can take the opportunity to engage in a growing community of technical professionals and make themselves familiar with the latest advances in LabVIEW and data acquisition technology.

Additionally, all seminar attendees are eligible to enter a prize draw on the day to win an NI USB-TC01 Thermocouple Measurement Device with NI InstantDAQ Technology, so you can instantly take temperature measurements with your PC. Moreover, at the end of each seminar tour, all attendees will be eligible to enter a grand prize draw to win a LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT 2.0, powered by NI LabVIEW. Find out more here.
* Morning or afternoon sessions available. Registration will take place between 09:00 - 12:30 or 13:30 - 17:00 on 5 April 2011 at The Institute for System Level Integration (ISLI), Heriot-Watt University Research Park Research Avenue North, Edinburgh, EH14 4AP.
