Christian Gartmann is the new Area Vice President Nordics of The Rezidor Hotel Group – he succeeds Martin Creydt who left the company. Gartmann, a Swiss national and one of the most experienced Rezidor managers, already spent more than 20 years of his career in Scandinavia and speaks fluently Danish. He will be based in Oslo and head 72 hotels in operation and under development in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. Under his leadership, The Rezidor Hotel Group will further strengthen its core brand Radisson SAS in the Nordic’s international gateways and develop the young and innovative mid market brand Park Inn in first, secondary and tertiary cities.

“Christian Gartmann has a long and deep background in the international hospitality industry”, comments Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of The Rezidor Hotel Group. “He knows the Nordics and our fast growing company from inside, and will build on this experience while extending our portfolio in this home market.”

After his education at famous institutes such as the Hotel Schools in Lucerne and Lausanne and the Copenhagen Commercial School, Gartmann started his career in Swiss hotels before joining the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel, Copenhagen in 1967, where he held several positions until 1987. After being Project Manager for the Arctic Hotel Corporation in Greenland, and Marketing Manager for the SAS Hotels in Denmark, he became General Manager at the Hotel Chlosterhof in Switzerland. He returned to Radisson SAS in early 1994, was General Manager in several Radisson SAS properties in Denmark, Jordan, Germany, South Africa and Poland, and took over responsibilities as District Manager (South Africa) and Regional Director (Poland). In October 2003, Gartmann was promoted to the position of Regional Director for the UK and Ireland while heading the Radisson SAS Hotel, Manchester Airport at the same time. Since June 2005, he has been Area Vice President for the UK, Ireland, France, Iceland and Poland. France and Poland will remain under his management until further notice; UK and Ireland will report directly to Thorsten Kirschke, Senior Vice President & COO of Rezidor.
