The Rezidor Hotel Group announces a further Park Inn hotel in Sweden – the group has signed a contract with Midroc Property Development AB to open a Park Inn in Malmo in Q1 2010.

The hotel will be located next to the World Trade Center in the Western Harbour, the city’s fastest growing area which also hosts the Malmo University and the famous Turning Torso building. The deal is subject to final decisions by the Swedish authorities.

Park Inn Malmo will feature 220 rooms, a restaurant, meeting facilities and an underground garage.

“This hotel will be a great addition to the Park Inn family”, says Kurt Ritter, President & CEO the Rezidor Hotel Group. “Malmo and the Oresund region is very dynamic, and the location in the Western Harbour is ideal. The hotel will also nicely complement our exciting Park Inn projects in Stockholm, where especially the new hotel and congress centre right next to the City Hall will have an international flair.”

Malmo is Sweden’s third largest city. As part of the Oresund region which also includes the entire Copenhagen area (Denmark) this region is considered the most dynamic area in Scandinavia. The Oresund bridge connecting Malmo with Copenhagen offers speedy access to Copenhagen International Airport, located just 20 minutes from Malmo Central station.

Park Inn is Rezidor’s fastest growing brand and a symbol for young, fresh and innovative mid market hotels – offering “the best sleep in town” in their category. Park Inn currently features more than 90 hotels in operation and under development in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Currently, Park Inn in Sweden includes 13 hotels with two projects under development.
