BUBBA WATSON WINS THE MASTERS AT AUGUSTA FOR THE SECOND TIME IN HIS CAREER

Past Masters Champion and Richard Mille team member, Bubba Watson, dazzled the crowd at this year’s Masters Tournament as he fought to stay atop the leaderboard through the weekend, winning out in the end to claim yet another green jacket.

Bubba finished the first round just one stroke shy of the lead, behind Bill Haas (68). In the second round, he followed up with an impressive 5 birdies in a row on holes 12 through 16, carding a 68 (-4) and boosting him to the number 1 spot going into the weekend. Bubba shot a 74 (+2) on Saturday, finishing the third round in a tie for first with the young American Jordan Spieth, a Masters rookie.

The battle unfolded on Sunday 13th as both competitors volleyed for the lead on the front nine, but Bubba managed to pull into the lead on the back nine, maintaining the No. 1 spot all the way through his final putt on the 18th hole confirming his second Masters victory in three years.

Bubba’s unique style of golf proved to dominate the demanding course of Augusta, shown by his impressive score card in all 4 rounds. His powerful drives and creative shots were cause for much debate throughout the week. Most notably, his extraordinary drive on the 13th hole… 360 yards into the fairway, followed by a sandwedge shot to the green and a two-putt for birdie on one of the hardest par 5’s on the course. Again on 15, jaws dropped when he opted to fly his ball over the green – a risky move with a 3 stroke lead, but one that Bubba executed perfectly – then hitting a chip shot to the green and three putt to finish with a par.

BUBBA WATSON REMPORTE LE MASTERS D’AUGUSTA POUR LA SECONDE FOIS DE SA CARRIERE

Dimanche 13 avril 2014, 13 joueurs dont Bubba Watson se sont affrontés pour revêtir la fameuse green jacket du Masters d’Augusta 2014. Seulement cinq coups les séparaient pour cette finale.

À l’issue de la première journée, Bubba termina deuxième à un point seulement derrière Bill Haas (68). Vainqueur en 2012 du Masters, Bubba a rapidement su reprendre sa place de leader au deuxième tour en rendant une carte de 68 (-4) grâce notamment aux 5 birdies alignés des trous 12 à 16. Il remit à la fin du troisième jour de compétition une carte de 74 (+2) partageant sa place de leader avec le jeune Américain Jordan Spieth.

C’est véritablement ce dimanche 13 avril que Bubba a réussi à faire la différence sur les neuf premiers trous avec 4 birdies avant de s’adjuger la victoire au 18e trou. Ses deux poursuivants finissent ex-aequo avec 283 points. Son style de jeu atypique soutenu par sa remarquable capacité de résistance à la pression lui ont permis de dominer sans conteste l’exigeant parcours d’Augusta durant les 4 jours de compétition.

Avec un total de 280 points – 8 coups sous le par à l’issue des quatre journées – et une moyenne de 21 % de birdies, le golfeur floridien remporte pour la deuxième fois en trois ans ce tournoi, l’un des plus selects au monde opposant près de 100 joueurs triés sur le volet. Sa puissance de frappe et sa créativité n’auront cessé toute la semaine d’alimenter les commentaires. Le gaucher Américain termine en tête du classement de la longueur au drive avec une moyenne de 279 m. Bubba a exprimé tout son talent en réalisant l’un des plus beaux drives de l’histoire du Masters au trou n° 13. Certes le dog-leg s’adapte parfaitement à son fade, haut et puissant, mais quel coup extraordinaire à ce moment clé de l’Amen Corner, comme l’a fait remarquer Jordan Spieth lui-même. Cette victoire confirme que le succès au Masters 2012 n’était déjà pas un « coup du hasard ».

RM 038 Bubba Watson, le calibre RM 055 et plus récemment le tourbillon RM 38-01. Cette ultime évolution de la montre golf a bénéficié de l’introduction d’un capteur de G pour évaluer la puissance des swings.
Avec cette belle victoire, Bubba Watson remonte à la deuxième place au classement FedEx et accède désormais au 4e rang mondial.
