Mountain Resort Serves as a Barometer for Real Estate Sales Forecast  with 60 New Home Starts Projected for 2013

Roslyn, Wash. – (July 17, 2013) – Suncadia, a year-round mountain resort located 80 miles east of Seattle, started 2013 with a jump in real estate sales, demonstrating that consumer confidence and the real estate market are rebounding.

Real estate sales through its brokerage, Suncadia Real Estate Sales Company, reached more than $27 million in the first half of 2013, and are forecasted to increase throughout the year as the demand for second homes in the Pacific Northwest continues to rise. This continued growth comes after encouraging real estate sales numbers from 2012, when Suncadia closed more than $42 million, representing its best year in home sales since 2008.

Since properties became available in 2003, Suncadia has sold more than 1,300 homesites and condominiums. The real estate sales success Suncadia achieved in 2012 more than doubled that of 2011 and sales are forecasted to continue to grow in 2013.

“We’re seeing customers are once again comfortable pursuing their plans to build,” said Richard Seay, vice president, director of sales and marketing for Suncadia. “Construction costs are still relatively low, and people are once again making the decision to build. It’s exciting to see the promising growth and expansion of the Suncadia community.”

A projected 60 new home starts will be developed in 2013, an increase from 40 starts in 2012. Two brand new builders have entered the game – Bella Villa Homes of Ridgefield, Wash. and Element Residential, Inc. of Bothell, Wash. – purchasing a combined 23 homesites in the Prospector’s Reach neighborhood, marking the first multiple-home development by builders since 2008.

Suncadia offers nine distinct neighborhoods to suit a variety of styles – Suncadia for a resort village experience with The Lodge, Rope Rider, Prospector, Black Nugget, Trailhead and Prospector’s Reach communities; Nelson Preserve for dramatic views and access to the river; and Tumble Creek for a private escape on estate homesites – and provides vacation homes, home sites and condominiums ranging in price from $65,000 to $2 million.

“2013 started off as a great year for Suncadia real estate, and we are excited to continue this momentum throughout the year,” said Roger Beck, managing director of Suncadia. “Suncadia offers an unmatched setting for second homes, and customers are jumping at the chance to build in our resort community.”

Suncadia offers a variety of amenities including Prospector and Rope Rider golf courses, Portals Restaurant, the Swim & Fitness Center and the Glade Spring Spa.
