RISE SICS North announces appointment of Jon Summers as their new Scientific Leader

RISE SICS North AB announced today that Jon Summers has joined the company to take on the role as Scientific Leader to further strengthen the research institute’s competence area, being sustainable and efficient datacenter solutions, cloud applications and data analysis.  Dr Summers’ area of expertise is primarily focused on energy efficiency and cooling of microelectronic systems from processors to datacenters. 

Jon Summers comes with a wealth of 20+ years experience and knowledge within the datacenter and related industries, having spent the last 5 years developing a centre of excellence in engineering digital infrastructures at the University of Leeds. He has specific interest in thermal management, liquid cooling and the physical limits of computation.

Jon Summers has a PhD in Computational and Applied Mathematics from University of Leeds, is a regular speaker at global industry focus events, a judge for a number datacenter awards, and is also an Advisory Board Member of the Dutch based Immersed Computing start-up, Asperitas. He also has a large number of industry projects in his resume including datacenters and industry suppliers.

RISE SICS North in Luleå is a subsidiary of RISE SICS, carrying out advanced and focused research in strategic areas of computer science, in close collaboration with Swedish and international industry and academia. The research creates cutting-edge technology, invigorating companies beyond their own R&D.
