Roland Introduces New VersaCAMM® VSi Series Wide-Format Printer/Cutters
Roland has introduced its latest generation of VersaCAMM wide-format eco-solvent printer/cutters – the VersaCAMM VSi Series. The new VSi offers all of the advanced features that have made VersaCAMM the best-selling wide-format inkjet printers worldwide in the durable graphics industry – high quality eco-solvent inks, integrated contour cutting, ease of use, versatility and dependability – plus new capabilities and design enhancements that take VersaCAMM performance to the next level.
Available in 30-, 54- and 64-inch models, the VSi family printer/cutters all boast a fresh new look. The improvements, however, are much more than skin deep. Incorporating a newly designed eight-channel Piezo inkjet print head, variable droplet inkjet printing and the latest in eco-solvent inks, the VSi delivers stunning images with exceptional detail at all print speeds. With seven different droplet sizes available, the VSi Series achieves smoother gradations and richer density for superior photographic and high-resolution output. The VSi print head also produces smaller droplets than previous print head designs, allowing for rich, bold color and deep image saturation on a broader range of media.
Every VSi printer/cutter is equipped to take full advantage of Roland’s faster-drying GREENGUARD Gold certified Eco-Sol® MAX 2 inks in CMYKLcLm, high-opacity White, Metallic Silver and Light Black. These wide-gamut, high-density inks allow Roland’s VSi Series printer/cutters to deliver stunning, vibrant prints with incredibly smooth gradations and unique metallic effects. Light Black allows for better reproduction of gray color gradients and more natural skin tones, while Metallic Silver can be printed as a spot color or combined with CMYK to produce over 500 striking metallic and pearlescent colors. Additionally, Eco-Sol MAX 2 inks are extremely scratch resistant and provide outdoor durability for up to three years without lamination.

The VSi Series printer/cutters also boast a number of design and system innovations that maximize efficiency, increase ease of use and help prevent material waste. An automated ink recirculation system reduces waste of white and metallic ink, lowering running costs while ensuring exceptional image quality. A new print/cut adjustment feature lets you make accuracy adjustments “on the fly” from the control panel while the printer is cutting. There’s even a new small footprint front-loading ink cartridge system that allows for optimum convenience and easy access at all times.
With print speeds of up to 289 square feet per hour, (VS-640i), the VSi Series models are true production printers. Integrated print/cut capability further expedites the production cycle by allowing users to print and contour cut designs in a single seamless workflow, even when the printer is unattended. An advanced media handling system helps maximize production speed and efficiency as well, enabling users to feed rolls weighing up to 88 pounds (VSi-640). Upgraded media flanges and seven pinch rollers secure the media in place, ensuring accurate feeding and tracking throughout the longest production runs.
Every VersaCAMM VSi Series printer/cutter comes complete with the latest version of Roland's VersaWorks® advanced RIP software, which includes advanced productivity tools for optimizing image quality and workflow, including built-in PANTONE® spot color libraries. This feature allows the user to automatically convert a PANTONE spot color in the design file to a CMYK value for accurate reproduction on any VSi printer without reopening the source file. VersaWorks can operate up to four Roland devices and also includes a Predictive Ink Calculator that estimates the amount of ink needed for each job so users can plan accordingly.
Roland's OnSupport® system facilitates unattended printing with the VSi Series printer/cutters by sending text or e-mail messages to a remote computer or smart phone when a print job is completed or ink is running low. OnSupport also allows for quick and easy downloading of firmware updates and important product information.
VersaCAMM VSi Series printer/cutters are engineered not only for superior digital printing capability and ease of use, but also for simple maintenance and durable, long-lasting performance.
