Rosti, the global plastics injection moulding company, strengthens its commitment in Asia with a new subsidiary, Rosti IMS (Integrated Manufacturing Solutions) SDN.BHD. The new site will be located in Senai, Johor Bahru.

In a similar move to the Rosti’s start-ups in China (2001) and India (2008), the decision to invest in Malaysia was prompted by customer demand. The new Rosti subsidiary will be geared up to handle all of Rosti’s core markets in Electrical & Electronics equipment, Packaging, Medical & Automotive. Its initial focus will be on production of complete modules for the Business Machines market.

“Many of our customers are establishing a presence in South East Asia” explains Rosti COO Asia, David Knight, who also oversaw the development at Rosti Suzhou in China and Rosti Chennai in India. “Senai in Malaysia is a good location for Rosti due to the stable industrial and economic environment coupled with the close proximity to our customers and also to Singapore where many global enterprises have regional headquarters. In the ten years since we set up in China we have enhanced our reputation not only as a high end injection moulding company but also as a fully integrated manufacturing solution provider from conceptual level to high value add products. It’s a natural step therefore for Rosti to duplicate this capability in South East Asia” adds Mr Knight

The new subsidiary, Rosti IMS (Integrated Manufacturing Solutions) SDN.BHD, will be commissioned by July 2012. The factory in Senai, Johor Bahru, Malaysia, holds a factory space of 5000 m2 and will employ up to 150 people by the end of 2012. Rosti’s machine investments over the next 12 months will be 3 MEUR and includes a full range of Sumitomo/Demag injection moulding machines in the 35t to 800t range.

Rosti Group CEO, Mr Börje Vernet adds: “Rosti is well positioned to serve a global customer-base with high precision moulding and related services. This new facility will compliment our geographical foot-print and it will achieve our aim for significant levels of growth in Malaysia over the coming years. The establishment of a Rosti facility in Johor Bahru will strengthen our relationship with our customers and provide an opportunity to grow with these customers also in our existing factories in Europe and Asia. It is our aim to continue our growth, not only through this type of organic development, however, also through acquisitions”
