EvoAssist can be set up to facilitate a wide range of everyday tasks through infra red and RF radio control including answering telephones, opening curtains, raising alarms, unlocking doors and changing television channels, and is compatible with both RSLSteeper and third party peripherals.

Dave Howson, Director of RSLSteeper’s Assistive Technology division, said:

“We have created a product that helps users maintain and increase their independence, giving them total control of their environment via a mainstream, desirable device which doesn’t label them as being disabled.

“Previously, physically disabled people with home automation systems may have needed several separate devices, each with different interfaces, to complete their everyday tasks. EvoAssist enables them to transform an existing iPod touch, iPhone or iPad into a single, stylish and modern multi-function controller, with control through an intuitive and widely understood platform.”

In addition to control via touch screen, the application can also be controlled via external switches, and can be configured to meet the needs of individual users. Control options can be displayed using either text or clear icons, and it can be viewed on an external screen for those with visual difficulties. In-app audio and visual prompts are available to assist users in selecting the correct functions if required.

The application also features selectable pre-recorded phrases, and can be used as a basic communication device. EvoAssist is fully compatible with iPod approved equipment for charging, sound amplification and large screen displays.

RSLSteeper is accredited to ISO 9001 for Environmental Control System design and can offer advice on appropriate devices and systems for each customer. Its dedicated team of specialist engineers can install, maintain and service these systems, and can provide on-site training to users and their carers.
