TCP Unveils Smart Home Lighting System at Light + Building
30 March 2014: Technical Consumer Products Limited (TCP) today builds on its history of innovation by unveiling a smart home LED lighting system to the European market at Light + Building, Frankfurt in Germany.
Branded as CONNECTED by TCP™, the product utilises LED lighting and a smart home platform designed by GreenWave Reality to make setup fast and simple. By linking to a home’s Wi-Fi or mobile network, users can control lighting. With functionality available via a smartphone, tablet or computer it provides a convenient solution to energy saving.

The bulbs can be controlled by a gateway and app that has been developed alongside Greenwave Reality, the global smart home innovator.

The intuitive app, which can be set up in minutes, gives consumers a range of controls over their home lighting, including:
- One gateway to control up to 250 bulbs, enabling connection of an entire office or home
- Three levels of access: home, local or wide area network
- Smart controls for user-defined requirements as well as pre-configured controls:
- Home, switches all bulbs on
- Night, switches all bulbs off
- Away, switches all bulbs off
The LED bulbs consume around 80 per cent less energy than the traditional incandescent light bulbs, making them energy efficient and smart at the same time.

- Two E27 coated A-Lamp light bulbs of 810 lumen (10 Watt equivalent)
- Correlated colour temperature: 3,000K
- Colour rendering index: >80
- Gateway with power cords (220-240 Volts) to connect the product to the wi-fi network
- Downloadable app compatible with iOS and Android operating systems

TCP staff will be on-hand at Light + Building (Location 4.1 G89) to showcase the new product, which will land on European shelves in autumn 2014, in time for the start of the lighting season. RRP to be confirmed.
Following the product’s launch in the US in November 2013, it has won an Envisioneering ‘Innovation and Design’ award at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The award recognises new-to-market technologies that demonstrate innovative features, functionality, value and design.
