RUSSELL SCANLAN LAUNCHES NEW HEALTHCARE DIVISION

Russell Scanlan has started the year with the news that it is to launch a dedicated Healthcare Division – the only independent insurance broker in Nottingham to offer the service.

The new Healthcare division, available from January, will be headed up by Tony Hulatt – a figure already well known in the industry and with a twenty-year background in private healthcare provision.

Packages will be developed for small group schemes, for 1 to 50 individuals that would target SME businesses and the company’s private client portfolio, alongside bespoke schemes for larger corporate clients.

Bryan Banbury, Managing Director at Russell Scanlan explained the move:” We’ve been following the fortunes of the Healthcare market for several years and the industry is predicting a significant rise in demand in 2014. This rise is linked to a new approach by employers to employee benefits packages, prompted in part by the pension opt-in legislation.  Employees value added benefits, beyond standard salary increases, and employers will be able to provide those benefits via cost effective packages designed specifically for a business.  There is now a significant shift in attitude towards private medical insurance from exclusive and expensive executive perk to affordable company-wide benefit.”

Influencing factors also include  increasing pressures on the NHS, the more recognised link between improved health and performance and the government’s announcement in the Autumn statement that it intends to introduce tax exemption on amounts of up to £500 paid by employers for medical treatment for employees.

Tony Hulatt, in post for just a month, has already been fielding enquiries from customers: “It is good to return to the working environment of an independent broker – the client service ethos, the general culture of service – and the ability to move quickly when new opportunities present. There is huge potential in the Healthcare  market and it is good to work with a company that can respond to demand.”

Tony continues: “Unlike some large broking groups who choose to work with a limited panel of preferred providers, Russell Scanlan Healthcare does not have to nail its colours to any one mast, and we can review all providers for the best deals available at the best price – the real advantage of independent status.”

Russell Scanlan, Nottingham's longest established and largest independent risk management and insurance brokers, continues to secure its success by developing expert status in a number of specialist market sectors. The business offers services ranging from cyber-crime protection to products developed for sectors including heritage and museum through to leisure and micro-brewing.

Russell Scanlan has a wide-reaching and loyal customer base across the East Midlands and the whole country. The firm specialises in corporate, small business, private clients and specialist sector insurance. For further information, visit www.russellscanlan.com .
