Add colour to your garden

Report this content

If your garden is looking a little dull and boring, here are some quick fixes that are bursting with colour!

Attractive outdoor lanterns

Outdoor tealight lanterns, whether suspended from a border hook or placed on an outdoor table, are a popular garden accessory that can add colour to your garden or patio. Perfect for dining out of doors, camping, picnics and nearly every other occasion.

Plain metal lanterns are fairly inexpensive and can be bought from most garden centres – but why not add some colour and make these your own with spray paint?

We used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in French Lilac (Satin), Purple (Gloss) and Blossom White (Satin). Not only do they look great, the spray paint will also protect the lanterns from rust should you leave them outdoors.

Brighten up bird feeders

Providing seeds and nuts in bird feeders is a great way to encourage birds to visit your garden. Use spray paint as a quick and easy way to bring plain metal or plastic bird feeders to life, it can also restore old feeders that are no longer looking their best.

We used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in French Lilac (Satin), Berry Pink (Gloss) and Strawflower (Satin) to add a summery splash of colour to the garden. As spray paint is quick-drying and easy to use, it will take just minutes to make your bird feeders your own.

Watering can transformation

With just a little primer and some spray paint you can turn a plain old watering can into a brightly coloured piece that complements the colours in your garden.

For our watering can we used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch spray paint in Sun Yellow (Gloss).

Try using bright, feel-good, colours to give all of your garden bric-a-brac a nice sunshine feel. You can use spray paint on tool handles, trellises – whatever takes your fancy. The spray paint is compatible with most surfaces so there’s no limit to what you can do!

Rust-Oleum spray paint is available from B&Q, Homebase and other leading stockists. From £7.99 for 400ml.
