Volvokort and SEB co-operate on "e-giro" service A million Volvo Card customers will be able to settle invoices via their Internet bank. From November 1999, Volvokort and SEB will be able to offer a service that enables customers to pay by means of e-giro - an electronic giro payment system. This will mean that customers will not need invoices produced on paper and will also be able to approve payment with a simple click. Co-operation with SEB means that Volvokort will be able to give its customers the chance to deal electronically with invoices and payments. Keying in invoice- and OCR numbers will be a thing of the past. "A great number of Volvo Card customers already pay their bills via the Internet. It is, therefore, natural to offer them e-giro as a simplified method of payment," says Conny Bergström, Managing Director of Volvofinans Konto AB. "Via the Internet, we have a further opportunity - together with Volvohandel (commerce) - to communicate with our customers and to make them individually adapted offers. Our Volvo Card vision is to create a complete vehicle-owner account that suits our clients' every need when it comes to vehicle ownership." "By means of e-giro, SEB will also make it easier for its 290,000 Internet banking customers to effect payment via the Internet. And those companies with which we co-operate will get a simple and safe way of invoicing. E-giro presents us with a great opportunity to simplify things for the customer," says Johan H Larson, Head of SEB's Internet bank. E-giro is a service for invoicing and making payments via the Internet. The service is aimed at companies that invoice private individuals who are Internet banking clients of SEB, Handelsbanken or Östgöta Enskilda Bank. Should they so desire, customers will be afforded the opportunity of viewing their invoices via a safe, direct link with the company in question. SEB's Internet bank has 290,000 customers. 35 per cent of all SEB's payments are currently being made via the Internet. 20 per cent and 15 per cent, respectively, of all share- and mutual fund trades are carried out via the Internet.
