Håkan Buskhe elected Vice-Chairman of the Board in AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe

Håkan Buskhe, President and CEO of Saab was today elected as Vice-Chairman of the Board in AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe, ASD.

“With the current challenging European security environment, the industry will play an ever growing role. Cross-border collaboration, fostering innovation to help build new defence capabilities is a key contribution in making Europe more safe. In my ASD capacity I will certainly strive to make the association an even more important partner to the EU stakeholders”, said Håkan Buskhe, President and CEO of Saab in a comment to his appointment.

The AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) represents the aeronautics, space, defence and security industries in Europe, mainly towards the EU institutions, in all matters of common interest with the objective of promoting and supporting the competitive development of the sector. The members of ASD consists of 16 European Aerospace and Defence Companies and 26 National Associations in 19 countries, including the Swedish SOFF, Swedish Security and Defense Industry Association. In 2015 over 3000 aeronautics, space and defence companies in these countries employed more than 847,700 people and generated a turnover of €222 billion. ASD is organised into different “Business Units” (Defence, Security and Civil Aviation), as well as additional “Commissions” tasked with transversal matters such as External Affairs, Research & Technology or Economic, Legal and Trade affairs.
