Defence and security company Saab has signed a five-year extension contract with Braathens Regional for the supply of components for the Saab 2000. The order is valued at SEK 90 million.

The contract encompasses the repair and supply of components and maintenance service for the Saab 2000 airplane. The deal is within the framework of an ongoing programme in which the customer receives replacement components whilst components are either sent for inspection or repair.

Golden Air Flyg AB - which will be changing its name to Braathens Regional on 1 January 2013 - is a regional company operating out of the Trollhättan-Vänersborg Airport, Sweden. The company is a part of Braathens Aviation, which also owns Malmö Aviation and Sverigeflyg. Braathens Regional already had a contract with Saab for component supply, and has now chosen to extend this contract for five years.

“The Saab 2000 offers regional airlines dependable performance, comfort and service combined with low operating costs,” says division manger Torsten Öhman, business area Support and Services at Saab. “The contract extension demonstrates Saab's proven ability to provide support solutions which help reduce costs and contribute to operators' competitiveness. Braathens Regional is an important customer for Saab and we are looking forward to continued long-term collaboration.”

Braathens Regional with its eleven Saab 2000s and five ATR72-500s, is Saab's largest 2000 operator.

Saab's broad portfolio of products and solutions includes service and maintenance for a large portion of the Saab 340s and Saab 2000s currently in operation worldwide; 400 aircraft distributed over 75 operators in 37 countries.
