In a significant stride towards addressing traffic congestion and bolstering integrated situational awareness, Lima Airport Partners (LAP) has selected Saab to enhance its Digital Apron Management Center with a comprehensive suite of surveillance solutions. This decision not only marks a breakthrough for Saab in the Latin American market but also underscores LAP's commitment to efficient apron management for enhanced safety, capacity, and operational efficiency.

Saab’s state-of-the-art surveillance system includes a fully integrated platform featuring ADS-B surveillance sensors, the Aerobahn surface management system, TactiCall voice communications integration, and Digital Towers equipped with high-definition cameras, ensuring a thorough digital visualisation of the airport’s surface. With the integration of these cutting-edge solutions, LAP's Apron Operators will efficiently manage, record, and measure activities across the airport apron from three working positions all housed at the new Digital Apron Management Center within the upcoming airport terminal.

"Taking full ownership of apron management and implementing a full range of technologies to promote maximum situation awareness will significantly enhance Lima’s airport’s safety, efficiency, and capacity.  Saab is proud to equip LAP’s Digital Apron Management Center, demonstrating our global leadership in surveillance sensors, data processing, and digital towers. LIM airport is surely an example to be followed by airport operators and major carriers willing to take a step forward,” says Sergio Martins, Director, Saab ATM & Surveillance Radars for Latin America.

The collaboration brings together trust, a long-lasting history of successful cooperation, innovation, and operational efficiency. Both parties are committed to advancing airport operations to new heights.

“This significant milestone for our operations in Lima will undoubtedly improve the efficiency of our airport, placing us at the forefront among major airports worldwide that have already embraced this cutting-edge technology. At LAP, we persistently collaborate with all our partners, working with Saab diligently to elevate Lima Airport into the primary hub of the region and spearheading the much-needed modernization in the aviation sector," says Turgay Kircar, Chief Operating Officer, Lima Airport Partners.

“Together with our partners, the Fraport Group makes continuous efforts to improve and modernize operations at our group airports. By using digital transformation, we strive to evolve innovative systems and processes to deliver a better experience to passengers and customers. Introducing a Digital Apron Control solution is a first in Peru and also in Latin America, and a milestone for Fraport’s global airport operations,” Holger Schaefers, Senior Executive VP Global Investments & Management, Fraport AG.

Lima Airport Partners S.R.L. is a limited liability company that operates Peru's main airport: the Jorge Chávez International Airport in Callao, near Lima. It was founded in February 2001 under a concession structure. The company is 80.01% owned by Fraport AG, Germany’s largest aviation hub and 19.99% by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) part of the World Bank Group.
