Defence and security company Saab, announces that Swedish Air Navigation Service Provider (LFV), will commission Saab Remote Tower solution at Linköping Airport, Sweden. This will be the third airport in Sweden implementing the pioneering Remote Tower solution.

LFV has placed an order on Saab to implement Remote Tower solution at Linköping Airport.

“We are committed to implement innovative airport operations. Saab’s Remote Tower solution will increase capacity and efficiency,” says Anders Carp, head of Saab business unit Traffic Management.

Linköping Airport will be LFV’s third airport to be remotely operated. Remote Tower is jointly developed by LFV and Saab. Swedish Transport Agency approved of LFV’s operational concept for remotely controlled towers in October 2014.

“With remote tower, LFV takes air traffic control to a new level. We are only at the beginning of a new era. LFV is the first provider of air navigation services which have received an operational approval,“ says Olle Sundin, Director General of LFV.

Saab Remote Tower solution will be delivered to Linköping airport during quarter four 2015 by Saab’s air traffic management team in Gothenburg and Växjö.
