    Saab Offers Gripen E to Switzerland

    Supported by Sweden, Saab has today submitted its proposal for the Swiss New Fighter Aircraft procurement to armasuisse, the Swiss defence procurement agency. Saab offers Gripen E and a comprehensive industrial participation programme for Swiss industry corresponding to 100 percent of the contract value.The proposal consisting of options for 30, and 40, new build Gripen E fighter aircraft is a response to the Request for Proposal (RFP), which armasuisse issued 6 July 2018.     Second Gripen E Test Aircraft Takes Flight

    On 26 November, Saab completed the successful first flight of the second Gripen E test aircraft.The second Gripen E test aircraft, designated 39-9, took off on its maiden flight at 09.50 am on 26 November 2018.     Gripen E Flies with Meteor

    In October, Saab successfully completed a test flight by a Gripen E aircraft with the Meteor Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM) for the first time.The flight included two Meteor missiles and the Gripen E aircraft (designated 39-8) wasoperated from Saab’s airfield at Linköping, Sweden. “The aircraft continues to perform as smoothly as we have seen throughout the whole flight test phase flying with external stores.     First Missile Firing by Gripen E

    Gripen E has successfully completed the first tests to verify the ability to release and launch external payloads.     Saab Receives Order for Gripen System Upgrade

    Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) concerning the upgrade of the Gripen C/D system.     Saab Presents Gripen E Simulator With Wide Area Display

    Saab will be attending the Defexpo exhibition in India, 11-14 April 2018. On the show for the first time is a Gripen E simulator equipped with a Wide Area Display (WAD).The Wide Area Display in Gripen E is a panoramic high-resolution screen (19 x 8 in) that allows a redundant and intelligent presentation of information across its entire length, with the capacity to receive inputs from multitask keys, the touchscreen or external interfaces. Using data fusion, it provides the pilot with the information needed and is the main source of flight and mission information in the cockpit.

    Czech Air Force Gripen fleet completes MS20 upgrade giving enhanced operational capabilities

    The Czech Air Force has successfully completed the MS20 capability upgrade to its fleet of Gripen fighter aircraft. The upgrade greatly increases Gripen’s combat and communication capabilities.The MS20 upgrade brings a number of improvements.     Defence and security company Saab has received a contract from the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) regarding new Gripen E equipment.
