    Saab Offers Gripen E to Switzerland

    Supported by Sweden, Saab has today submitted its proposal for the Swiss New Fighter Aircraft procurement to armasuisse, the Swiss defence procurement agency. Saab offers Gripen E and a comprehensive industrial participation programme for Swiss industry corresponding to 100 percent of the contract value.The proposal consisting of options for 30, and 40, new build Gripen E fighter aircraft is a response to the Request for Proposal (RFP), which armasuisse issued 6 July 2018.     Gripen E has successfully completed the first tests to verify the ability to release and launch external payloads.     Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) concerning the upgrade of the Gripen C/D system. The order is valued at approximately SEK 224 million.The order mainly involves improvements to and modifications of existing capabilities in the so-called MS20 upgrade, which was introduced across the Swedish Air Force Gripen fleet in 2016.     The Czech Air Force has successfully completed the MS20 capability upgrade to its fleet of Gripen fighter aircraft.     Defence and security company Saab has received an order for delivery of specially customised CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) sampling equipment and a certified transport packaging container to INTERPOL’s BioTerrorism Prevention Unit.Under the agreement with INTERPOL’s BioTerrorism Prevention Unit, Saab will supply a total of six sampling units, to be used in the field to combat bioterrorism.
