SaltX Technology has developed an innovative technology for electrification and carbon separation, which can be used for zero-emission production of quicklime and cement. This technology has the potential to play a vital role in decarbonizing these hard-to-abate industries. SaltX is now becoming a member of the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) to demonstrate its ambitions to be at the forefront of the industry transition.

“We plan to build the first electrified quicklime factory with our partner SMA Mineral by 2025, and we have entered the global cement market with a collaboration with the Indian cement producer Dalmia. Joining LeadIT will help us accelerate our development and contribute to a higher pace in the transition”, says Carl-Johan Linér, CEO of SaltX.

On November 16th, SaltX inaugurated its test- and research facility, the Electric Calciner Research Center (ECRC), in Hofors, Sweden. Daniel Westlén, State Secretary for Climate Minister Romina Pourmokhtari, and India's ambassador in Sweden, Mr. Tanmaya Lal, announced SaltX membership at the event.

LeadIT was launched by the governments of Sweden and India at the UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019 and is supported by the World Economic Forum. Other company members include Vattenfall, ThyssenKrupp, Hybrit, DSM, Skanska, Tata Steel, Volvo, Heathrow Airport, Scania, and LKAB.

“We at LeadIT and the Secretariat warmly welcome SaltX to our group and look forward to collaborating to achieve net-zero targets for the cement industry. Bringing entrepreneurship and a drive for innovation - SaltX is an ideal member as we are exploring the frontiers of the green industry transition at home and globally”, says Per Andersson, Head of Secretariat, LeadIT.
