Bullimore Eventing Jumps At Samsung Laundry
Hybrid washer provides ideal solution for cleaning horse rugs, numnahs and bandages.
Sarah Bullimore is one of Great Britain’s leading event riders. Riding competitively for over twenty years, she and husband Brett are based at their purpose built equestrian facility in Bedfordshire. To keep their horse rugs, numnahs, bandages and other competition paraphernalia in top condition they’ve just installed a Samsung Professional laundry machine.
Presentation is important with eventing – rugs need to be spotless and saddle cloths and numnahs need to be bright and clean, not only to look smart but also to show off sponsors’ logos. “With fourteen horses on the yard laundry is a big issue,” says Sarah. “Everything tends to get really muddy and filthy, so you need a machine that can cope with the dirt and the weight of the wet material. The problem is that while domestic machines won’t cope, it’s a big jump to invest in a commercial laundry set up, both in terms of cost and the space they take up.”
Bullimore Eventing had tried washing machines in the past that claimed to handle 10kg, but they all broke down after a short time. That’s when they approached laundry specialist Francis and Co, who recommended the new Samsung Professional machine.
The Samsung is a new type of laundry, a hybrid of commercial and domestic. The machines have a 110 litre capacity yet run off a domestic 13 amp supply. “They have a sturdier construction than the washers we’ve had in the past,” says Sarah. “In terms of cleaning, they’re doing a great job.”
Results aren’t just about how good the washed products look, they’re also about hygiene. “Dirty sweaty kit harbours bacteria and other nasties. We have to be sure that the laundry cleans thoroughly, to avoid any potential cross contamination between horses.”
One of the clever features of the Samsung is its ecobubble technology, which generates bubbles before the wash cycle begins. By dissolving the detergent in air and water, it penetrates fabric more quickly, evenly and deeply, which means operators can wash at lower temperatures and still achieve perfectly clean results. This reduces energy consumption by up to 70% and ensures the machine uses the minimum amount of water to achieve great wash results.
