Salon International 2012 Stop Press: Samsung Stops the Salon Shakes
Anti-vibration technology on Samsung Professional Laundry’s new washers takes on big loads
Salon International 2012, Francis & Co stand N128, 13 – 15 October, ExCeL London.
Unbalanced loads can cause vibration and lead to damage in laundry systems. Plus, they make a lot of noise that can disrupt the hair salon. Up till now effective anti-vibration technology has tended only to be available in more expensive machines, but Samsung Professional Laundry’s range of professional washers has an anti-vibration system fitted as standard. These large-drummed washers have a price tag some 60% lower than their competitors’ similarly sized machines.
The range is available through Francis & Co, via a national network of distributors and laundry equipment specialists. Director David Lawton says: “The anti-vibration feature is a big benefit to hair salons. Towels absorb lots of water, which can be very difficult to extract on the spin cycle without causing the washer to vibrate, leading to premature wear on the suspension and bearings, thus reducing the life expectancy. The new Samsung units have overcome the issue with their innovative system.”
Samsung’s smart anti-vibration technology (VRT) automatically adjusts the balance of the drum to protect the machine when loaded unevenly. VRT works in two ways. Firstly, there is a mechanically simple but ingenious system that counteracts imbalances in the drum. Meanwhile Dual 3D sensors also send signals to the inverter that controls the motor so the drum is perfectly balanced, whatever the load, reducing both vibration and noise. This not only prolongs the life of the machine but means it can be sited in noise sensitive areas or run overnight without causing a disturbance.
The Samsung WF431 washers have a big 110 litre capacity but can be connected to a normal 13 amp power supply. Their new Eco Bubble technology cuts energy costs whilst delivering excellent wash results, by dissolving detergent in air and water before the wash cycle begins. This perfectly dissolved detergent then penetrates fabric more quickly, evenly and deeply, which means operators can wash at lower temperatures and still achieve perfectly clean results.
The anti-vibration technology means that the machines easily cope with bulky loads – they can handle up to 33 standard hand towels at once.
