New concepts from Sandvik Coromant for deep hole drilling and counterboring
Sandvik Coromant introduce CoroDrill® 801 and CoroDrill® 818
Cutting tool and tooling system specialist, Sandvik Coromant, is introducing two new concepts for productive deep hole drilling operations specific to large hole diameters, the CoroDrill® 801 and CoroDrill® 818.
CoroDrill 801 is designed to support secure drilling processes in materials that are difficult-to-chip. Offering a rigid design and the very latest insert and pad technology for improved performance at sustained tool life, the drill offers excellent chip control. Also facilitating enhanced chip evacuation is a number of innovative technical features, such as improvements in coolant channel design and chip mouth design, for example.
Ease-of-use is another major benefit of CoroDrill 801. For instance, there is a ground area for run-out verification, while the incorporation of a timing mark makes for easy positioning in the drill tube. There is also radial adjustment of 2.5 mm giving greater flexibility across the diameter range of 66.7 to 165.1 mm.
Counting the benefits
Process security, flexibility and adjustability are also three major themes of the new CoroDrill 818 counterboring tool for deep hole operations. High process stability is ensured due to the T-rail tip seat interface and newTXNinsert with improved grade and geometry.
Available in diameters from 65 to 222.2 mm with a radial adjustment of 2, 5 or 8 mm. This rigid, easy-to-use tool again offers optimized chip evacuation, large radial adjustability and a timing mark for easy positioning in the drill tube.
High end applications
Particularly effective when drilling tough materials such as super alloys and titanium, both CoroDrill 801 and CoroDrill 818 can also be deployed for steel and stainless steel workpieces. Typical applications are expected to be those found in the oil and gas, aerospace and primary metals sectors.
