New secure aluminium composite door is industry first
Sapa Building System, one of Europe’s largest suppliers of environmentally sustainable and energy-efficient aluminium building system solutions, has launched the industry’s first aluminium frame composite door for the residential market complete with rigorous security measures.
Part of the popular Crown range, Sapa’s composite door offers the highest levels of security thanks to its advanced locking systems. As well as a high performance three-point multilock as standard, the DUALSECURE locking system is offered to further enhance security.
Far exceeding any other locking system currently available, it works with a cleverly concealed function that independently deadlocks the complete multipoint lock as soon as you throw the door handle up. Toughened 4mm glass is also used as standard (BS EN 12150) to provide even more safety and security.
Despite such stringent security measures, the Crown Composite Door is easy to operate. There are a variety of options for locking and unlocking the door including auto deadlock and key and keyless thumbturn devices so there’s no need to keep your key in the lock.
Crispin Jedrzejewski, product manager for windows and doors at Sapa Building System, says: ‘The Crown composite door offers complete peace of mind for the home owner. Even the hinges help improve security as they feature a unique interlocking action which coupled with the three hook locks operating in opposing directions, hold the door firmly in its frame.
‘The range of locking and unlocking devices offers homeowners a huge amount of choice. The thumbturn from an auxiliary lock is unique to Sapa Building System while the option of a keyless thumbturn locking device is significant as more people are looking for different ways to secure their home. The doors also come as a kit, making it very easy for customers to install themselves.’
Designed and made in the UK, the Crown Composite Door has a high performance core and low emissivity double-glazed glass for high thermal efficiency. This helps to comply with Part L of the Building Regulations which requires replacement doors and frames to achieve a U value of at least 1.8W/m²K.
The Crown composite door is also extremely durable and coated with thermosetting resins to ensure it remains strong and hard-wearing whatever the temperature. The application of Sapa Building System’s very own trim process, PERFECTFINISH™, provides all round stylish protection against daily wear and tear. The CROWNGLAZE™ system is also used throughout the range and creates windows that are flush with the surface of the door without any visible gaskets or vulnerable beading.
The added advantage of an aluminium frame is that it can either complement or contrast other windows and doors in your home thanks to the dual colour option – one colour inside and one outside. A huge range of colours and styles are also available offering homeowners greater choice and flexibility.
