Aluminium fenestration systems specialists, Sapa Building System, has launched a new high performance, thermally insulated, sliding door system.

The C160 joins the C125 as part of Sapa’s Confort range and uses a modular insulation system, Foam Power®, which combined with 40mm omega-shaped glass fibre reinforced polyamide strips, helps to achieve amongst the lowest Uf value of any sliding door on the market. Being modular, the system can be tailored thermally to suit specific requirements providing the optimum value solution.

Ideal for use in a wide variety of new build applications due to its sight lines which maximise light penetration, the C160 door comes in both slide and lift and slide options, providing ease of operation on vents of up to 9m². Its weather performance is also unique for a sliding door and has successfully passed stringent testing at 1200pa water and 600pa air.

Crispin Jedrzejewski, product manager for windows and doors at Sapa Building System, says: ‘The system is designed to realise very large sliding leaves with the inherent strength to enable full height floor to ceiling spans. This is without the need for external reinforcement, in most situations, which is hugely appealing to our customers. A multipoint lock, safety glass and special hardware also help secure against forced entry, giving increased peace of mind to home owners.

‘With a maximum vent weight of 400kg and a glazing depth up to  55mm, very large glazed areas can be achieved incorporating triple glazing as required. Its symmetrical vent profiles allow for either internal or external installation of the glass, and low threshold option for improved accessibility make up an impressive list of features that combine to create a fully flexible solution.’

Square cut frame options are available for ease of fabrication and installation, whilst machining requirements have been minimised and simplified to speed up production. Sapa’s own software package, SapaLogic, can be fully utilised providing CNC links for production to ensure fabrication is as smooth as possible.
