New air cargo terminal to SAS Cargo in Stockholm

A modern 15,000 square meter air cargo terminal will be ready in Cargo City at Arlanda Airport, Stockholm, Sweden in Spring 2010. This is the result of a newly signed agreement between SAS Cargo subsidiary, Spirit Air Cargo Handling Sweden and Nordic Airport Properties. The agreement doubles Spirit's current capacity at that airport, and this will especially benefit the increasing number of all-cargo aircrafts, that arrive and depart from Stockholm these years.

- More than the increased capacity the new terminal will also live up to the increased demand from our customers regarding high security levels, high efficiency, product differentiation and high quality standards, says Anders Skantz, who is the Managing Director for Spirit Air Cargo Handling Sweden.

He explains, that the increased demand for air cargo handling is partly due to the increasing number of airlines that choose Arlanda as destination for their all-cargo aircrafts, and partly due to SAS's decision to increase the number of intercont departures out of Arlanda. Anders Skantz looks forward to double the capacity and estimates that Spirit will be able to handle up to 200,000 tons cargo annually in the new terminal.

In August 2007, Spirit Air Cargo Handling Sweden made another agreement with Nordic Airport Properties regarding a 5,000 square meter extension of the current air cargo handling terminal at Landvetter Airport, Gothenburg, Sweden.
