SAS Cargo increases cargo capacity between Scandinavia and China As of March 28th SAS Cargo will add about 100 tons of cargo capacity per week between China and Scandinavia. The expansion is a result of Scandinavian Airline's decision to start up a new route between Copenhagen and Shanghai. - Shanghai is situated in a very fast growing market. The globalization have made more and more businesses move their production to China, and this is where we see the fastest growing market in airfreight right now. Many products must be transported to Europe or USA and - naturally - we are very happy that we can offer our customers this service, says President and CEO of SAS Cargo Group, Peter Grønlund. With three weekly departures from Copenhagen SAS Cargo can offer a flexibility that especially is satisfactory for those customers with a demand for fast and frequent cargo between Scandinavia and China. In fact, cargo from Shanghai will arrive the same day in Copenhagen (departure at 10.30 hours and arrival at 15.40 hours). And freight from Scandinavia will arrive next morning. (Departure at 15.15 hours and arrival at 07.35 hours following morning). The route will be flown with the biggest aircraft in SAS' fleet; Airbus 340, which can lift about 18 tons of cargo each way. SAS Cargo offers already cargo capacity non-stop to China via Beijing with Airbus 340 and Hong Kong with an MD-11 freighter. The rest of Asia is serviced through non-stop SAS routes to Tokyo, Bangkok and Singapore with Airbus 340s or a MD-11 freighter to Osaka. Furthermore, SAS Cargo offers transportation via their membership of the WOW cargo alliance, whose members are: Lufthansa Cargo, Singapore Airlines Cargo and Japan Airlines Cargo.
