SAS Cargo opens a new airfreight terminal in Malmö The opening of the new Öresund Bridge draws Sweden and Denmark a lot closer to each other. This is emphasised by SAS Cargo with the inauguration of its new airfreight terminal in Malmö. Malmö Airfreight Terminal (MAT) takes over the activities from the terminal at Bulltofta, which has become too small to handle the ever increasing volume of freight. The concentration of large import and export businesses is high in southern Sweden, and they need rational logistics solutions that can increase their flexibility, responsiveness and competitiveness. With MAT, airfreight customers in southern Sweden gain an ultramodern distribution centre that can quickly and efficiently transport consignments within SAS Cargo's global airfreight network. Industry can look forward to a faster service brought about by shorter transit times. It will be possible to receive and send freight in Malmö with immediate connection with flight departure times in Copenhagen. Neither the capacity nor equipment in MAT sets operational limits, and MAT can be adapted easily to suit the size and nature of a particular consignment. This makes it possible to handle everything from miniature high-tech components to flight-ready helicopters. Together with other airfreight terminals in Scandinavia, MAT can contribute to the increased use of airfreight and promote local and global integration.
