Tetra Laval rewards SAS Cargo's quality - again For the third consecutive year SAS Cargo has received the prestigious "Quality Service Award" prize from Tetra Laval. The prize is given to the airfreight company that provides the highest quality. In 2002, 98 percent of Tetra Laval's shipments through SAS Cargo arrived as agreed. Since 1999 the quality of delivery has gone up from 94 percent to 98 percent. - Tetra Laval Group depends on its suppliers to live up to the service that they already have committed to. By winning the Quality Service Award three times in just as many years shows that SAS Cargo is capable of maintaining a high level of quality over a longer period of time. This is very reassuring for Tetra Laval, says Ralph Höglund, Transport & Travel Manager in Tetra Laval Group Transport & Travel. - For SAS Cargo this prize means that we can show buyers of transportation that SAS Cargo is a competitive alternative. We are of course both proud to see the results of the quality initiatives we started up in 1999, and to see that we have been ahead of our competitors for several years. Our goal is to constantly provide a higher delivery quality than other airfreight companies and hence become the natural choice for the internal logistics of various enterprises, says Peter Grønlund, who is president and CEO of SAS Cargo Group A/S. Transportation and logistics have a very high priority with the Swedish concern Tetra Laval Group, who is famous for its products to the dairy industry. The machines are used all over the world. Production is arranged according to the "just-in-time" principles, which mean that all suppliers of the production must live up to the "deadlines" agreed upon beforehand. Tetra Laval Group Transport & Travel is responsible for the evaluation of the airfreight companies, which supply transportation for Tetra Laval Group. The objective is to reach the highest possible level of quality. This is the reason why all airfreight shipments are followed closely: To monitor if all shipments arrive as agreed. The quality evaluation is very comprehensive. Even if a shipment is delayed due to technical problems, bad weather or other conditions of which the airfreight company has no influence, it will deduct marks in the evaluation. The reason for the close monitoring is quite simple: A delay in the supply chain will cause a delay in production and this is a very costly affair. - The volume we ship for Tetra Laval is considerable. It's every day, all year round, and to destinations in North America, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Europe. Many of our terminals are involved in the handling of the shipments, and it makes us proud to see that we can maintain a delivery quality of 98 percent on average, says Anders Skantz, vice president, Global Handling, who is responsible for the handling of all cargo in SAS Cargo Group A/S. ------------------------------------------------------------ This information was brought to you by Waymaker http://www.waymaker.net The following files are available for download: http://www.waymaker.net/bitonline/2003/09/22/20030922BIT01280/wkr0001.doc http://www.waymaker.net/bitonline/2003/09/22/20030922BIT01280/wkr0002.pdf
